Pacific Lutheran Women Win PLU Invitational Title
With the fewest number of runners in the history of the invitational, PLU scored 17 points to easily beat Olympic CC with 49 and Green River CC with 70. There were no other teams with enough runners to complete a team score, and a total of 37 runners finished the 6000-meter course.
Gebert clocked 23:41.10 and Olsen was closing on her at the end, finishing with a time of 23:41.96. Kelsey Kreft, competing unattached, won the event with a time of 23:31.59. Olson's time was approximately 10 seconds faster than she ran last year.
Rounding out PLU's top seven were Erinn Kuest, fifth in 24:39.78, Becca Ford, 10th in 25:16.25, Jennifer Arbaugh, 11th in 25:31.45; Allison Young, 14th in 25:35.39; and Michelle Domini, 17th in 25:52.30. Other PLU runners were Maggie De La Vergne, 18th in 26:00.92, Erica Johnson, 20th in 26:06.34, and Alyssa Rowland, 21st in 26:08.89.
The Lutes now turn their focus to the Northwest Conference Championships, which are scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 29, in Brooks, Ore.
