Hanna Earns Academic All-District Honor

Beth Hanna, a two-time All-America outside hitter for the Pacific Lutheran volleyball team, has earned Academic All-District 8 honors for the second straight year.

Hanna, a junior from Clackamas, Ore., received second team recognition this year after a third team selection in 2008. She maintains a 3.43 grade point average while majoring in education.

The District 8 college division is made up of NCAA Division II, Division III and NAIA schools in Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, California and Hawaii, and also in British Columbia, Canada. Hanna is one of three players from Northwest Conference schools to earn Academic All-District 8 honors, the other two (Linfield's Samantha Lau and Whitworth's Randi Stephens) receiving third team recognition.

Pacific Lutheran, 18-6 overall and 14-0 in the Northwest Conference, closes out its regular season schedule this weekend with matches at Willamette on Friday and at Lewis & Clark on Saturday. The Lutes have already won the conference title, their fifth in the last six years, and await information regarding a potential regional tournament host bid. That information will be released on Monday, Nov. 9. Unfortunately, Hanna suffered a season-ending knee injury in last Saturday's victory over Whitworth.
