WHITTIER, Calif. - The doubles team of Allison McClure and Katherine Patton were the only Pacific Lutheran winners as the Lutes dropped an 8-1 women's tennis decision to the Whittier Poets on Sunday.

The Poets improved their season record to 5-3, while Pacific Lutheran is now 6-5 overall and 0-2 on its spring break trip to Southern California.

McClure and Patton picked up an 8-5 victory over Lauren Gelgur and Bree Campanero. Other than that, it was all Whittier. All of the singles matches were decided in straight sets, though both Leah Newell and Tina Aarsvold pushed their opponents before losing by matching 7-5, 6-3 scores.

The Lutes are back in action at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, March 26, when they play a neutral site match against Mills College in Pasadena.
