Lutes Fall to Seattle U. in Women's Tennis Opener

SEATTLE - Pacific Lutheran started the 2010 women's tennis season on Friday afternoon with a NCAA Division I opponent, and the result wasn't surprising as host Seattle University recorded a 9-0 victory at the Amy Yee Tennis Center.

Ali Burnside and Caitlin Hoerr took three games from Nicole Fleckenstein and Mikaela Peterson in third doubles, but other than that the Redhawks had the upper hand in doubles play. Ashley Coats battled to a 6-2, 6-2 loss to Katrina Schwab at No. 1 singles as Seattle U. dropped only 12 games in the six singles matches.

The Lutes open their Northwest Conference season at 1 p.m. Saturday when they face the Pacific Boxers in Oregon.
