Women Swimmers Shut Out at Husky Invitational
FEDERAL WAY - Pacific Lutheran had its top finish in the men's 200 freestyle relay in Friday's first day of the 63rd Annual Husky Invitational swim meet currently underway at King County Aquatic Center.
PLU is in 23rd place overall with 30 points, with all of the points coming from finishes in the men's 200 freestyle and 400 medley relays.
No Pacific Lutheran women relay teams or individuals finished high enough in their events to earn points. The top finish came in the 200 freestyle relay where Michelle Hogan, Elizabeth Althauser, Kristin Neuneker and Toni Castillo clocked 1:43.01 to place 32nd overall.
The Lutes picked up 24 points by finishing 17th in the 200 freestyle relay, and they got six more points by placing 24th in the men's 400 medley relay.
University of British Columbia and Grand Canyon University are in a heated competition for the top spot which combines men's and women's scoring, UBC leading after one day with 833 points and GCU just one-half point behind at 832.5. The Davis Aquadarts club team is third with 431 points.
Among the Northwest Conference teams, Whitworth is ninth with 197 points, Puget Sound is 11th with 174, Whitman is 20th with 50 and PLU is 23rd with 30 points.
