Newby Selected to All-NWC Second Team

Meredith Newby, a senior defender on the Pacific Lutheran women's soccer team, has earned All-Northwest Conference second team honors as selected by the NWC coaches.

Newby (Portland, Ore. / Cleveland HS) is one of four PLU players to receive conference honors this season. Lutes players named to the all-conference honorable mention list are sophomore defender Jordan Daniels (Sumner, Wash. / Sumner HS), sophomore midfielder Karli Hurlbut (Everson, Wash. / Meridian HS) and sophomore forward Olivia Lee (Federal Way, Wash. / Bellarmine Prep). All four of PLU's honorees started all 19 of the team's matches as the Lutes went 5-13-1 overall and 4-10-1 in the conference, good for seventh place.

Newby started each of the Lutes' matches over the past three seasons and this year had a pair of assists. Daniels, who earned honorable mention honors for the second straight year, finished with two goals and one assist. Hurlbut led the Lutes with six goals and she added a pair of assists, while Lee finished with five goals and three assists.
