Weather Forces Premature End to Match

Lutes line up for introductions before match.

NEWBERG, Ore. - A thunderstorm that brought rain, hail and high winds made the field unplayable and brought a premature end to Pacific Lutheran's women's soccer match against George Fox on Saturday.

The host Bruins had established a 1-0 lead in the first half, but the match was terminated by at halftime by officials because of unplayable conditions. A match needs to have passed the 70-minute mark, so this one was considered a "no contest."

As a result, Pacific Lutheran finishes its 2009 season with a 5-13-1 overall record and a 4-10-1 mark on the conference. The Lutes finished seventh in the conference standings, one spot ahead of George Fox.
