Henry Leads PLU Women at NWC Fall Classic
PORTLAND, Ore. - Paige Henry shot an 85 on Saturday to lead Pacific Lutheran players after the opening round of the Northwest Conference Fall Classic women's golf tournament being held at Heron Lakes Golf Club.
Henry is in 15th place and Pacific Lutheran is in sixth as a team with a first-day total of 357. Whitney Hobbs shot an 86 and is tied for 16th for the Lutes. Other PLU scores were Julie Heffernan 89, Kristina Norlin 97 and Karina Shelton 99.
With four players among the top eight, George Fox holds the lead with a 313. Megan McGrew from George Fox is the first-day leader with a two-over-par 74 on the par 72, 5,813-yard Green Back Course layout. Whitman's Tate Head is second with a 75, followed by Kelsey Morrison from George Fox with a 78.
Whitman is in second place with a 320, followed by Linfield 340, Willamette 342, Whitworth 344, PLU 357, Pacific 403, Puget Sound 448, and Lewis & Clark incomplete.
The NWC Fall Classic is one of three conference "major" tournaments that is used to determine the overall conference champion. The tournament concludes with another 18 holes on Sunday.
