Westering to Attend National Youth Leadership Forum
Pacific Lutheran women's basketball player Jordan Westering will attend the National Youth Leadership Forum scheduled for Sept. 25-27 in Washington D.C.
Westering is one of four area college students nominated and elected to participate. Students are generally nominated by campus and community leaders, including university administrators. "This is a much deserved opportunity for her and she will be a great representative of PLU," said Kelly Robinson, Lutes basketball head coach.
According to the National Student Leadership Forum Web site, the annual conference "brings together a diverse group of university leaders from across the country. The program for the Forum is intentionally relational. Students will interact with fellow students, recent college graduates, young professionals and established adults from the political, business and social service sectors of society." The event is "hosted by members of Congress, business leaders, religious leaders, and other adults passionate about the development of our nation's future leaders host this event.
"Past speakers have included Vice President Dan Quayle, Vice President Al Gore, former U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft, U.S. Senator Barack Obama, U.S. Senator Bill Nelson, U.S. Representative John Lewis, U.S. Representative Mike Doyle, former U.S. Senator Paul Trible, Ambassador Tony Hall, Chaplain Berry Black and Admiral Vern Clark."
