Lutes Will Swim Against Puget Sound on Saturday

(Revised from an earlier press release.)

Hazardous travel conditions caused by snow and ice storms will prevent the Pacific Lutheran swimming team from traveling to Eastern Washington this weekend, but the Lutes will still compete in a dual meet on Saturday.

PLU will travel across Tacoma - a much shorter trip - to face Puget Sound at 1 p.m. Saturday in a Northwest Conference dual.

The Lutes were originally scheduled to swim against Whitman at 6 o'clock tonight and against Whitworth at 1 p.m. on Saturday. Instead, two days of heavy snowfall, followed by an ice storm that coated the region, will keep the PLU swimmers on this side of the mountains.

As a result, PLU head coach Matt Sellman and Puget Sound head coach Chris Myhre decided to move up their teams' annual showdown, which had been scheduled for Friday, Jan. 27, by six days.

Coaches and administrators from PLU, Whitman and Whitworth will decide early next week if and when those meets will be rescheduled.
