NWC Honors Hatlen For Outstanding Play
The Northwest Conference has honored sophomore softball player Kaaren Hatlen for the work she put in at the plate this past week.
Hatlen, a Woodinville, Wash. native, put on a hitting clinic as the Lutes won 9 out of 12 games. In those 12 games on offense, she went 20-for-41 (.488) with seven runs, 16 RBIs, three doubles, three homers, a .780 slugging percentage, 53 putouts, nine assists, and only one error (.984 fielding percentage). Against conference competition, she was 9-for-15 (.600) with four runs, 8 RBI, two doubles, two homers, 1.133 slugging percentage, and 1.000 fielding percentage on 26 chances.
Hatlen has helped the Lutes to a 24-10 record this season, and a spot in the NWC playoffs. If the Lutes hold onto second place in the conference standings, they will enter the NWC softball playoff tournament as the No. 2 seed and act as the home team in the tournament opener.
The final series for the Lutes of the 2011 NWC schedule comes this weekend when the team has a set of doubleheaders against the University of Puget Sound. Saturday, the Lutes will host the Loggers, and then travel across town on Sunday to finish the season with a final twinbill on the road.
