Hagensen Earns Academic All-District First Team Honor
Stacey Hagensen showed that she is as much a star in the classroom as she is on the softball field, earning Capital One Academic All-District VIII College Division First Team honors with a 3.88 grade point average while majoring in math.
Hagensen, a junior out of Newport High School in Bellevue, is one of two pitchers and 11 total players named to first team, and as such will be included on the Academic All-America ballot.
Named the 2011 Northwest Conference Pitcher of the Year and a first team all-conference selection for the second straight year, Hagensen finished the regular season with a 21-6 record, a 2.30 earned run average and 18 complete games. In addition, she compiled a .367 batting average with eight home runs, 39 runs batted in, and team highs of 43 runs and 16 stolen bases (in 17 attempts.) .
The Capital One Academic All-District teams are nominated and selected by college sports information directors across the country. The District VIII college team pool includes NCAA Division II, Division III and NAIA colleges and universities from Alaska, Washington, Idaho, Oregon, California, Hawaii, Arizona, and Nevada.
