Brown, Hagensen Earn All-NWC First Team Honors
Caitlin Brown and Stacey Hagensen earned All-Northwest Conference first team softball honors, and three of their Pacific Lutheran teammates were named to the second team and honorable mention lists.
Brown, a junior infielder from Salem, Ore., earned first team recognition for the second consecutive season. She hit .333, drove in 17 runs and stole eight bases in 26 conference games. Hagensen, a sophomore from Bellevue, made the all-conference first team as a utility player after playing outfielder and pitcher for the 2010 Lutes. She led the Lutes in 28 conference appearances with a .429 batting average, three triples, five homers and 31 runs batted in. Among NWC players in conference-only games, Hagensen ranked sixth in batting average, third in hits, fifth in runs scored, tied for first in triples, and fifth in total bases. Hagensen was a 2009 All-NWC second team pick as a utility player.
PLU players named to the 2010 all-conference second team were outfielder Amber Roberts and designated player Kaaren Hatlen. Robert led the conference with 28 steals in 30 attempts, swiping twice as many bases as the next player on the list. A sophomore from Tacoma, Roberts hit . 279 during the conference season with one homer and 26 runs scored. Haatlen, from Woodinville, hit .412 with seven doubles for the Lutes in her first season.
Montessa Califano, a frosh infielder from Renton, made the 2010 All-NWC honorable mention list after hitting .368 during the conference season.
Pacific Lutheran finished fourth in the Northwest Conference with a 17-11 record. The Lutes were 23-15 overall in head coach Erin Van Nostrand's second season at the helm.
