PLU Rowers Take Four of Six Races Against Seattle Pacific
SEATTLE - It was a strong opening day for the Pacific Lutheran rowers on Saturday morning as the Lutes defeated host Seattle Pacific in four of the six races held on the Ship Canal.
The opening men's varsity 8 couldn't have been much closer as the Lutes nipped the Falcons by one-half second, crossing the finish line in 6:36.4 compared to SPU's 6:36.9. it was the second straight victory for the Lutes over the Falcons.
The women's varsity 8, the next race on the course, went to PLU with a time of 7:12.8, followed by the Falcons in 7:29.3.
SPU won both varsity 4 races. The Falcons men clocked a time of 7:02.27, while PLU did not finish. The women's race showed SPU in 7:59.91 while PLU had a time of 8:19.93.
On the back end of the meet, the novice 4 races were won by Pacific Lutheran. PLU's men clocked 7:22.78, followed by SPU in 7:34.84 acnd the SPU lightweight 4 in 7:38.93. On the women's side, PLU A clocked 8:09.43, SPU 8:24.67 and PLU B 8:51.79.
Pacific Lutheran returns to action on March 30 when it competes in the Cascade Sprints on American Lake.
