Pacific pulls off 9-0 men's tennis sweep over Lutes
FOREST GROVE, Ore. – Pacific University showed why it is competing for one of the top spots in the Northwest Conference on Friday afternoon, sweeping Pacific Lutheran 9-0 in an NWC men's tennis match at Holce Tennis Courts.
The loss drops Pacific Lutheran's record to 2-10 overall and 1-6 in the NWC, while Pacific improves to 9-3 overall and 6-1 in conference play. PLU returns to action Saturday, taking on Willamette in Salem at 12 p.m.
The closest match of the night came at No. 1 doubles, as Troy Zuroske and Lorne Bulling held off Spencer Herron and Jake Yannello 8-6. The Boxers claimed the next two doubles matches by scores of 8-0 and 8-1 and proceeded to sweep the singles matches.
Saturday's contest will be a rematch of the Lutes' lone NWC win this season. Pacific Lutheran defeated Willamette 5-4 last month at Sprinker Recreation Center.
