Jake Yannello Named Most Outstanding Men's Tennis Player

Freshman Jake Yannello (Lakewood, Wash. / Lakes HS) has been named Most Outstanding Player for the 2013 Pacific Lutheran University men's tennis team.

Other players earning team awards were Luke Olson, selected as Most Inspirational, and Jeremy Marsh, who received the Coaches Award.

Yannello finished with a 10-2 record playing either No. 5 or No. 6 singles. He teamed up with cousin Mitch Yannello to compile an 8-8 doubles record, with all but one of those matches coming at No. 3.

"With so many new faces this year, I am really proud of the team," PLU head coach Rocky Poulin said. "To improve on our record from last season, to make the conference postseason tourney, and to achieve a number 14 West Region ranking, are all testimony to the hard work of the players and the coaching staff. I especially want to thank the coaching staff for being great coaches and mentors to these young men. We look forward to adding a couple more pieces to the puzzle next year and continuing on the journey."
