CHENEY - Pacific Lutheran played up two levels on Friday and found the adjustment to be too much to overcome as the Lutes lost a 7-0 non-conference men's tennis match to NCAA Division I Eastern Washington.
The Eagles won the doubles point (only one point is awarded at the NCAA Division I level) after sweeping all three matches. The closest of the three came in second doubles where Sam Angel and Luke Olson lost to Arturo Carpio and Eduardo Bringold, 8-6.
Olson had the closest singles match, losing to Eduardo Martinez 6-3, 6-4. Angel lost to Tomas Aranquiz 6-1, 6-4, but other than that the Lutes managed to win just six games in the other four singles matches combined.
PLU, now 5-2 for the season, returns to Northwest Conference action at 10:30 a.m. Saturday when it plays the Whitworth Pirates in Spokane.
