SEATTLE - Joel Trudel and Justin Peterson teamed up for a doubles victory and each won a singles match on Friday to lead Pacific Lutheran to a 5-4 non-conference men's tennis win over host Seattle University at the Amy Yee Tennis Center.
Trudel and Peterson took an 8-1 win over Mark Shkretbtan and Yusuke Kanehira at No. 1 doubles, and Michael Manser and Scott Sheldon topped Alex Montgomery and Simon Meske, 8-5, in the No. 2 doubles match.
In singles play, Trudel topped Shkretbtan, 6-2, 6-4, and Peterson beat Meske, 6-3, 6-4, in the top two spots. Michael Manser added PLU's other singles win at No. 3, beating Alex Montgomery by a 6-3, 6-0 score.
Scott Sheldon dropped a close three-set match to Patrick Boorkman at No. 4, 6-3, 6-7 (6-7), 6-3, and Taylor Dickey fell to Yusuke Kanehira at No. 5, 2-6, 7-6 (7-2), 1-0 (10-5) in a super tiebreaker.
With the victory, PLU ends a three-match losing streak and improves its season record to 8-5, while Seattle U. has the inverse record, 5-8.
