PLU's Top Finish in Men's 200 Freestyle Relay

FEDERAL WAY - Pacific Lutheran had its top finish in the men's 200 freestyle relay in Friday's first day of the 63rd Annual Husky Invitational swim meet currently underway at King County Aquatic Center.

Phil Rempe, Joseph Parker, Rayan Carter and Chase Mesford combined for a 1:29.27 to finish 17th in the event. The Lutes picked up 24 points in that event and also got six more points by placing 24th in the men's 400 medley relay, clocking 3:42.32. Members of the medley relay team were Parker, Carter, Jacob Deines and Mesford.

No other PLU men's or women's team managed a high enough finish to earn points in the meet, which has drawn the largest field in the event's long history.

University of British Columbia and Grand Canyon University are in a heated competition for the top spot which combines men's and women's scoring, UBC leading after one day with 833 points and GCU just one-half point behind at 832.5. The Davis Aquadarts club team is third with 431 points.

Among the Northwest Conference teams, Whitworth is ninth with 197 points, Puget Sound is 11th with 174, Whitman is 20th with 50 and PLU is 23rd with 30 points.
