Lutes Picked to Defend NWC Men's Soccer Title

Pacific Lutheran is the pick of Northwest Conference coaches to defend the men's soccer championship it won last season. The Lutes received five of eight first-place votes in a preseason poll of NWC coaches.

PLU shared the 2011 conference title with Whitworth, both teams finishing with 12-2 records in NWC play. Prior to last season, Pacific Lutheran had not won or shared the conference crown since 1992. The 2011 Lutes advanced to the NCAA Division III postseason tournament by virtue of winning the tiebreaker over Whitworth but lost its first-round match to regional tournament host Redlands.

PLU, which was 15-4 overall last season, enters the season ranked No. 25 in NSCAA/Continental Tire DIII Men's Soccer National Preseason poll.
