MacLean Earns Third Team All-America Honors

Pacific Lutheran senior defender Derek MacLean (Burien, Wash. / Kennedy HS) has earned National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division III All-America third team honors.
MacLean, a first team All-Northwest Conference and NSCAA first team All-West Region selection, helped the Lutes to a 14-5 overall record this season. PLU finished second in the Northwest Conference with an 11-3 overall record.
The 6-1 central defender started all 19 matches for Pacific Lutheran, chalking up three assists and leading the team with 1,652 minutes played. MacLean has been a four-year starter for Pacific Lutheran, twice earning second team all-conference recognition in addition to this season's first team selection.
MacLean is the first PLU men's soccer player named to an All-America team since Lars Rasmussen, a senior defender from Copenhagen, Denmark, earned National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) first team honors in 1994.
