Hyres Earns Conference Recognition

Andy Hyres earned Northwest Conference men's soccer offensive player of the week honors after scoring two goals and assisting on two others last week for Pacific Lutheran.

Hyres, a senior midfielder from Wilkeson and White River High School, scored a goal against Puget Sound, assisted on a goal against Whitworth and added a goal and an assist against Whitman. The Lutes went 2-1 during the week, defeating Puget Sound 4-1 and Whitman 3-2, and losing to Whitworth 4-2.

Hyres currently leads the Lutes with six assists and has also scored four goals for a total of 14 points, tied for second on the team.

PLU, 9-5 overall and 6-3 in the conference, plays its final five conference matches on its home field. The Lutes, currently in third in the NWC, host Linfield on Saturday and Willamette on Sunday with both matches scheduled for a 2:30 p.m. kickoff.
