Scores Balloon As Lousy Weather Hampers Golfers

OLYMPIA - Rainy and windy conditions wreaked havoc with the Pacific Lutheran men's golfers on Monday as they struggled during the opening round of the Saint Martin's Invitational at Olympia Country & Golf Club.

The golfers were to have shot a pair of 18-hole rounds on Monday, but the inclement weather forced the postponement of the second round. The golfers are scheduled to conclude the tournament on Tuesday with 36 holes.

The Lutes shot a combined scored of 334 and bring up the rear in the predominantly NCAA Division II 15-team field. Dixie State from Utah conquered the conditions well enough to card a 296, four strokes better than Cal State-Stanislaus. Hawaii-Hilo was third at 301, while Saint Martin's and Victoria were tied for fourth at 303.

Auston Hilkin had PLU's best individual round with a 79. Other PLU scores showed Daron Casey and Tim Livermore at 84 and Dustin Hegge and Scott Zhang at 87.
