PLU Men Finish Third at NWC North

LAKEWOOD - With a solid second day showing, Pacific Lutheran finished third in the men's division at the NWC North golf tournament that concluded on Monday at Oakbrook Country Club.

Kyle Spitzer and Barrett Stamps finished in a fifth-place tie with 36-hole scores of 154 as the Lutes men ended up with a 316-313 - 629. Whitworth won the event with a 305-305 - 610, followed by Puget Sound 305-318 - 623. Whitman brought up the rear with a 307-324 - 631.

The remainder of the PLU scores were as follows: Scott Zhang 160, Daron Casey 163, Auston Hilkin 168, Kevin Englund 169 and Hans Stegemoeller 169.

Whitworth also won the NWC North women's team title with a 343-353 - 696, followed by Puget Sound 358-357 - 715, Whitman 347-370 - 717 and Pacific Lutheran 384-384 - 768.

Rachel Erickson and Karina Shelton tied for 13th overall to lead the Lutes, both players carding 192 over the 36 holes. Rounding out the PLU scores were Bethany Gray 193, Caitlin Malone 200, Kindra Stamps 201, Kelsey Spears 203 and Kara Herzog 210.
