PLU Golf Teams in Third Place at Logger Invitational

TACOMA - Pacific Lutheran holds down third place in both the men's and women's divisions after Thursday's opening round of the Logger Invitational being held at Fircrest Golf Club.

On the women's side, host Puget Sound carded a 341, followed by Linfield at 367, Pacific Lutheran 373 and Willamette 432.

PLU sophomore Karina Shelton is in the hunt for medalist honors after firing an opening-round 84, five stroke off the leading 79 established by Linfield's Brinn Hovde. Shelton is currently tied for fourth place.

Rounding out the PLU scores are Mallory Mueller 92, Rachel Erickson 97, Kara Herzog 100, Kelsey Spears 104 and Megan Arndt 105.

Linfield and Puget Sound are tied for first in the men's competition at 298, followed by PLU at 322 and Willamette at 338.

Linfield's Tyler Nelson and Yutaro Sakamoto are tied for first at 70. Kevin Englund and Barrett Stamps have the low scores for the Lutes at 79, followed by Daron Casey 80, Scott Zhang 84, Auston Hilkin 85 and Brandon Peterson 88.

The final round is scheduled for Friday with the first players teeing off at 8 a.m.
