Scott Westering has compiled a 40-32 overall record in eight
seasons as Pacific Lutheran University football head coach. Named
to the position in February 2004, Scott took over for his father,
Frosty, who served as PLU football head coach for 32 years.
Scott joined the coaching staff in 1981 and became the offensive
coordinator two years later. During his coaching career, PLU has
won three NAIA Division II and one NCAA Division III national
championships and finished as the runner-up four times in 10
post-season appearances. He has coached 11 first-team
All-Americans, including the 1999 NCAA Division III Player of the
Year, Chad Johnson, and the Most Valuable Player of the 1999
national championship team, Anthony Hicks.
Scott played football at UCLA for one year before transferring to
PLU, where he was a captain and All-America tight end on the 1980
NAIA national title team. Westering later had tryouts with the
Buffalo Bills and San Francisco 49ers. He was inducted into the PLU
Hall of Fame in 1998.
Scott earned his bachelor's degree in 1982 and his master's degree
in 2002, both from PLU. He is also a physical education instructor
at PLU.
Westering and his wife, Susan, an aerobics instructor at PLU, are
the parents of three children, daughters Jordan and Jessi, and son,
Kellen. The Westerings live in Puyallup.

Jud Keim

Jud Keim is in his eighth year on the Pacific Lutheran University football coaching staff and for the second consecutive season serves as assistant head coach, special teams coordinator and running backs coach. He served as the defensive backs coach for the 2004 season and was the team's defensive coordinator from 2005-09. In addition to his coaching duties, Keim is the director of PLU's intramural sports program.
His coaching background includes four seasons as the defensive coordinator at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn., four seasons at California Lutheran University, including three years as the defensive coordinator, and two years as a graduate assistant at Mankato State. He also was an assistant coach for one season at Kamiak H.S. in Mukilteo, Wash.
As a PLU student-athlete, Keim was a four-year letter winner in football and track & field for the Lutes. He was a two-time all-conference running back in football and participated in track and field. He earned his bachelor's degree from PLU in 1986 and a master's degree in Athletic Administration from Minnesota State University-Mankato in 1999.
His wife, Sari (Tollefson), is a 1987 PLU graduate and is a financial planner with Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. Jud, Sari, their daughter Kalen and son Jace reside in Gig Harbor.
Craig McCord

Craig McCord is in his 26th year on the coaching staff. Beginning in 2010, McCord made the change from assistant head coach back to his role as defensive coordinator, a position he held from 1996-2004.
Prior to becoming defensive coordinator, Craig was a defensive assistant coach from 1988-95 under then defensive coordinator Paul Hoseth. Craig served as an assistant to Hall of Fame coach Frosty Westering for 17 years.
Prior to graduating from PLU in 1983, Craig served as an undergraduate assistant in 1981. Craig went on to earn his master's degree from the University of Washington (1988) and while at the UW was a graduate assistant for Hall of Fame coach Don James for three seasons.
Craig coached prep football at Bellevue (1980) and Bethel (1982-84) high schools. He is single and lives in Hoodsport on Hood Canal.
Trevor Roberts

Trevor Roberts returns to the Pacific Lutheran football program for his second season as offensive coordinator and offensive line coach after a three-year tenure as a teacher and football head coach at Kent-Meridian High School. Prior to that, he was PLU's offensive line coach from 2002-07.
Roberts wrapped up an outstanding playing career at Pacific Lutheran with his participation in the 2001 Aztec Bowl All-Star Game. A four-year starter on the offensive line, Roberts twice earned first team All-Northwest Conference honors and was a second team all-conference selection as a sophomore. He was named the team's Offensive MVP as a senior.
Roberts and his wife, Nicole, have two children and live in Federal Way.
Jim Lindberg

Jim Lindberg, who previously served as a Pacific Lutheran football assistant coach from 2001-08, returned as a defensive assistant at the start of the 2010 season, and he remains in that position this year.
Jim coached a combined 18 years at Bethel, Fife and Olympic high schools, leading five teams to state playoff appearances and three league championships.
A graduate of Central Washington University with a degree in business education, Jim teaches business education at River Ridge High School the North Thurston School District. He resides in Tacoma and has a daughter, Tiffany, who is married and lives in Irving, Texas.
David LaSalata

David LaSalata, a four-year letter winner for the Lutes, is in his seventh season as a member of the PLU coaching staff and coaches on the defensive side of the football after previously serving as the offensive line coach.
David, a Lutes center and team co-captain, capped his playing career in 2004 by being named to the all-conference second team as an offensive lineman. He was also a three-time ESPN The Magazine College Division Academic All-District selection.
David earned his bachelor's degree in exercise science, pre-athletic training, coaching, sports psychology, and sports management in 2004 and his master's degree in education in 2006 from PLU. He teaches eighth grade science at Ford Middle School and also coaches wrestling at Fife High School. David and his wife, Arielle, have a son, Vincent, and live in Parkland with their dogs Randi and Sebastiaan
Gavin Stanley

Gavin Stanley is in his ninth season on the PLU coaching staff and works with the receivers.
The 1995 PLU graduate was a two-time NAIA All-American who still holds the school records for pass receptions in a game and season. He was named to the all-conference first team three times, was the conference's offensive Co-MVP his senior season, was a three-time conference all-academic team selection and was named to the NAIA Academic All-America team in 1995.
Gavin earned his master's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Washington and is employed as a staff mechanical engineer at Intel. Gavin, his wife Stephanie (Johnston), also a 1995 PLU graduate, and their two children, Connor and Jenna, reside in Puyallup.
Jason Johnson

Jason Johnson joined the Pacific Lutheran football coaching staff prior to the 2010 season and will work with the quarterbacks.
The grandson of former Pacific Lutheran football coaching great Frosty Westering and the nephew of current PLU head coach Scott Westering, Jason played quarterback at the University of Arizona, completing his career in 2002 as a Pacific-10 Conference All-Academic first team selection. His older brother, Chad, was an All-America quarterback for the Lutes and earned the 2000 Gagliardi Trophy winner as the Division III Player of the Year.
Johnson played professional football in Italy in 2008 and Austria in 2009.
Paul Mauel

Paul Mauel enters his second season on the PLU coaching staff as a defensive assistant coach working with the secondary.
Mauel transferred to Pacific Lutheran from Whitworth and was a two-year letter winner and starting linebacker for the Lutes, enjoying a career that was highlighted by the Lutes’ second national championship in 1987. He graduated from PLU in 1988 with degrees in English and education.
Mauel's first job out of college was as a graduate assistant from 1989-91 at the University of Washington for Hall of Fame Coach Don James. Mauel helped coach numerous all-conference, All-America, and NFL-bound players for the Huskies, including Butkus Award finalist Dave Hoffmann.
As a head high school coach, Mauel and his staff took Evergreen High School in White Center to the state playoffs in its second year. Former players include Senio Kelemete (team captain at the University of Washington) and Monroe Samifua (team captain at PLU).
Mauel previously worked in management at United Parcel Service and was CEO of a company formed in cooperation with UPS. Mauel now teaches English at Tahoma Junior High School and lives in Maple Valley with his family and bassett hound.
