Jenkins Again Earns CRCA All-America and Scholar Athlete Honors


Pacific Lutheran senior Kat Jenkins (Rochester, Minn. / Mayo HS) has earned Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) second team All-America honors for the second straight year. In addition, Jenkins has also earned CRCA All-America Scholar-Athlete recognition for the third consecutive time.

Jenkins, who competed for Pacific Lutheran in Varsity 8, Varsity 4 and pairs, teamed with Amber Iverson, an All-American in 2007, to finish second in the pairs competition at the Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association (WIRA) Championships held May 2-3 on Lake Natoma near Sacramento, Calif.

Jenkins, who graduated from Pacific Lutheran on Sunday, maintained a 3.87 grade point average while majoring in physics. Other PLU rowers named to the CRCA All-America Scholar-Athlete list were Natalie McCarthy (Steilacoom, Wash. / Steilacoom HS), a biology and environmental studies double major with a 3.22 grade point average, and sophomore Erin Siebert (Bothell, Wash. / International Community School), a psychology major with a 3.79 grade point average.
