Women's Pair Places Second at WIRA Championships

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The women's pair of Kat Jenkins and Amber Iverson placed second in the women's pair competition to lead Pacific Lutheran's performance at the WIRA Championships that concluded on Sunday at Lake Natoma.
Jenkins and Iverson improved one spot over last year's finish at the WIRA meet, clocking 8:20.8, with Lewis & Clark winning the event in a time of 8:16.2.
Pacific Lutheran crews competed in four other grand final races. The women's varsity four placed fifth, clocking 7:58.8 in a race won by Western Washington in a time of 7:42.9. Both the women's lightweight four and the men's lightweight four raced in grand finals that were won by California. In the women's race, PLU placed fourth in a time of 8:26.1 compared to Cal's 7:45.6, and in the men's event the Lutes were fifth in a time of 7:18.5, behind Cal's winning 6:43.7. The women's second varsity eight finished fourth in 7:45.8 with Puget Sound racing to a win in 7:17.8.
