The Sports Medicine Department functions to serve all intercollegiate student-athletes of Pacific Lutheran University. The mission of the Sports Medicine Department is to enable the student-athletes to reach their athletic potential by preventing, managing, treating and rehabilitating athletic injuries. The Sports Medicine Staff will reach the goals set forth in this mission by providing an atmosphere that promotes dedication, sincerity and compassion toward athletic training and the care of student-athletes. The Sports Medicine Staff is dedicated to helping the Pacific Lutheran University student-athletes return to competition in a safe and expedient manner.
The Sports Medicine team is comprised of several medical professionals, to include nationally certified and state licensed athletic trainers, physicians, psychologists and nurse practitioners. The athletic trainers are located in Olson Auditorium, our psychologists in the Counseling Center, and our nurse practitioners in the Campus Health Center. All of these on-campus care providers can be directly accessed by student-athletes as necessary. Team physicians volunteer their time and expertise to all Pacific Lutheran University student-athletes and may also be accessed through the athletic training room. Appointments for physician services can be scheduled on-site or off-site as dictated by the student athlete’s needs.
The Sports Medicine team members will conduct themselves in a professional manner and follow the standards set forth by Pacific Lutheran University and their respective governing authority or professional association. The team members recognize the role of the student-athlete in any continuum of care. Student-athletes are expected to engage in a lifestyle of wellness, communicate their needs or questions and adhere to the care protocols set forth by the team members.
