Pacific Lutheran University Athletic Facilities

The Pacific Lutheran University is the home to a full-size gymnasium, 9-hole golf course, indoor field house, six-lighted tennis courts, strength and conditioning center, etc. In the past decade it has produced 32 All-Americans, brought home 30 Northwest Conference Championships, and one NCAA Division III National Championship.

A Closer Look: Names Fitness Center

The Names Fitness Center houses a balanced range of free weights/resistance machines/cardiovascular exercise equipment. Names is under the direction of strength and conditioning coordinator Chris Wood.

2009, marks Wood's third year as a strength and conditioning coordinator for Pacific Lutheran University. He offers year-around guidance and workout plans for all student-athletes. Whether it be volleyball, tennis, or football Wood will design a workout that is specific for you.

 

A Closer Look: Pacific Lutheran Tennis Courts

As of June 2009, Pacific Lutheran University has resurfaced and repainted four of the tennis courts . The university houses six outdoor lighted tennis courts. Two are located in between Names Fitness Center and Pflueger Dormitory. The other four (pictured above) are located in front of Olson Gymnasium. The courts are the home to the PLU's men's and women's tennis teams. They are also used for beginner and intermediate physical education classes that are offered through the athletic department.

A Closer Look: Olson Gymnasium and Auditorium

As of Summer 2009, Olson Gymnasium and Auditorium has been revarnished and resurfaced just in time for the Fall 2009 season. It is the home to the Pacific Lutheran men's/women's basketball teams, volleyball team, and other intramural sports. It also serves as the stage for many important events associated with both the university and the surrounding community.

A Closer Look: Baseball Field

 

The Pacific Lutheran baseball field is the home to the 2007 and 2009 Northwest Conference baseball champions. The field dimensions are 345 feet down the left field line, 370 feet to left-center, 385 feet to center field, 355 feet to right-center, and 320 feet down the right field line. Telephone and internet access is available for media members.

A Closer Look: Sparks Stadium

   

Sparks Stadium, located in the center of nearby Puyallup, is the home field for many Puyallup School District high school sporting events. It has served as Pacific Lutheran's home football field since 1989. The stadium has covered seating for approximately 4,500 spectators. The field is synthetic field turf and there are separate home and visiting locker rooms and seating areas. A large press box accommodates coaches, media and game management personnel.
